Saturday May 3 by Yana

Saturday was a very calm day and we got to relax from the very busy week we had with our pen-pals. We got to sleep in till 8:30, which was really nice after having to wake up at 6:30 each morning. We then did a program about the Jewish identity, where we discussed the importance and values of Judaism. I thought that it was a very important topic because my Jewish identity is important to me, and I enjoyed hearing other people express why it was important to them. After the program we got more time to relax, and catch up on our journals. After lunch, we went for a walk around kibbutz Farod, and visited the Saba Haviv olive oil store. There we tried some amazing halva, and learned about the olive oil they make there. After exploring the kibbutz, we got more time to relax and then drove to Rosh Pina for dinner. In Rosh Pina, we got to see our pen pals for the last time, and enjoy a dinner together. After a wonderful sushi dinner we said our final goodbyes and parted. We had spent an amazing 5 days together, and we learned so much about the Israeli culture from them. It was a great experience, and we had all really bonded. Overall this week has been amazing, and I'm really happy I got the opportunity to be in this trip.

Pictures:  tasty treats at Saba Haviv, touring Kibbutz Farod including our dog friend Shusha and the chameleon that fell out of the tree on our heads, the Oneg Cafe - a silly way to eat Seudah Shlishit.
